Mission
Purpose
The Women’s Giving Circle is a donor/advisory group sponsored by The Portland Foundation. The Women's Giving Circle (WGC) is a membership group, with 100% of each $50 membership awarded back out to Jay County community organizations! Each member’s $50 annual membership, allows for at least $5,000 in annual grants to be awarded! Since 2005, WGC has awarded grants totaling $44,818!
Grant proposals are reviewed by a volunteer committee of WGC members, who select finalists to vie for funding at the WGC Grant Awards event in the Fall. Member votes determine the winner of the WGC Grant. Finalists don’t go home empty-handed either: smaller Finalist Grants are also awarded to support local programs and projects!
Members who attend the Women’s Giving Circle event in the fall vote on the grant awards. A tentative date of September 2023 is scheduled for an annual event.
Gifts, which are tax deductible, should be payable to The Portland Foundation, marked for the Giving Circle, and mailed or delivered to the Foundation office.
