Established in 2011 by Brooke Aker in memory of her husband Matt, Chief of the Portland Fire Department, who died in a motorcycle accident in April 2011. The fund is to provide scholarships to high school graduates with first preference given to graduates of Jay County High School, majoring in Law Enforcement, Conservation Enforcement, or Fire Service.
